Connoisseurs appreciate this special beer which is brewed today by just two of Bamberg's breweries. The freshly smoked aroma is unaccustomed - which explains why it is said that "the second mug tastes better than the first and the third tastes even better than the second".
Beer: Bamberg's smoke beer is a bottom-fermented beer. It is also made as a bottom-fermented smoke lager. Another speciality is the strong bock beer (Urbock) and the smoke wheat beer (top-fermented). Urbock strong beer is offered with an original gravity of 16.5%. Smoked malt is used and is the origin of the beer's strong smoky flavour. The colour is very dark, nearly black.
