The world heritage city of Bamberg celebrates the millennium anniversary of Bamberg's Cathedral. The first Cathedral was consecrated in the year 1012, on May 6th. The Cathedral has always been both a work of art and a place of spiritual celebration and contemplation at the same time. The festivities therefore offer a broad spread of events. The Cathedral itself will open up areas not usually open to visitors. The main focus of interest will surely be the special exhibition on the history and the development of this pivotal church in the bishopric and in German religious architecture. From May 4th to October 31st the Museum of the Diocese presents this historic exhibition with many valuable and illustrious exhibits.
Why not join a special guided tour or book one of the great package deals for visitors interested in the spiritual and religious momentum of history in the authentic setting of a medieval city like Bamberg.
