A very special sporting event was staged for the fourth time in 2009: Bamberg's World Heritage Run which winds through the historical Old Town, lending it a charm of its own.

Past the Cathedral, the Old Town Hall and through the pedestrian zone, the streets lined with well-wishers. In the sporting world, Bamberg's World Heritage Run has gained an unique reputation. The runners can choose from various distances: the Fox School Kids Run covering 1.6km, the 4.4km Wieland Run and the Sparkasse Half Marathon covering a distance of 21.1km.
