On the beer-tasting trip you will explore a city that has a long tradition of beer brewing

For inhabitants of Bamberg beer is not simply a liquid made of hops and malt. In Bamberg – also called Franconian Rome – beer takes a very special position. While enjoying a “Seidla” (half a litre of beer), you can hold conversations, form friendships or philosophise about life. Come and see the serenity of this wonderful city. Here you can enjoy more than 50 sorts of beer and during a beer excursion you have the possibility to find out more about its history. On the BierSchmecker beer-tasting trip, you will experience the city's long tradition of beer-brewing together with an expert. We will take you to locations of central importance to Bamberg's beer history and culture, where you can taste a selection of top-class beer specialities. During a visit to the Brewery Museum, you will find out more about the history of beer, its production and the Franconian art of beer-brewing. At the same time, you can lose yourself in the unique atmosphere of this mediaeval city, familiarising yourself with the main sights on a guided tour. This is all rounded off by a three-course beer-tasting menu showing the best of Franconian cuisine.

In the course of the meal a beer expert will tell you more about the beers you are drinking, about brewing history in Bamberg and in general and reveal some secrets about the making of smoke beer.
