Fässla is just opposite the Spezial brewery, and is likewise a very old brewery inn, having been founded after the end of the Thirty Years War (1649). In 1986 the brewery was taken over by master brewer Kalb who invested huge amounts of time and money in updating the brewery without relinquishing its traditional values. The large gateway has been preserved which was once used by the horse-drawn carriages, transporting the large barrels of young beer to the storage cellars under the city on the hills where it was left to mature. Today, this passageway is used as a "watering place" where some of the regulars pop in for a drink in passing and can go home with a clear conscience, having not actually set foot inside the inn!
The wide selection of beers includes Fässla lager, Fässla Gold Pils, Fässla Zwergla and a Märzen beer. There is also the Fässla Weizla (wheat beer), both light and dark. In October the "Bambergator" is put on tap, which is the strongest double Bock beer in the region with 8.5% alcohol.
