International Artists' House Villa Concordia

The International Artists' House Villa Concordia is an institution of the State of Bavaria and is assigned to the Bavarian State Ministry for Science, Research and the Arts.
Through exhibitions, concerts and lectures, the Villa Concordia aims at taking part in the cultural life of the city and the region with the scholarship holders, and on the other hand at developing activities of their own in order to become a major part of the cultural life.
The International Artists' House Villa Concordia serves the promotion and fostering of Arts as well as the consolidation of cultural relations of the State of Bavaria to other states. By giving scholarships to artists from other European countries, the Villa Concordia aims at promoting the European concept.
In July 2003, the International Artists' House Villa Concordia was inaugurated by Dr. Edmund Stoiber, the leader of the Bavarian state. Every year, twelve artists (each time four from the areas music, literature, and graphic arts) are invited to live and work up to one year in Bamberg.
