 Bamberg on foot
Winding areas, narrow alleyways, baroque and romantic façades and a medieval atmosphere make up the Old Town of Bamberg. Immerse yourselves in the history and discover Bamberg through a stroll or a city guided tour on foot. Sights and squares of the Old Town are situated within a reasonable walk distance and can be reached quickly on foot. Discover Bamberg and its cosy streets and alleyways either with a guide, or by your own with the audio guided tour. You will discover hidden inner courtyards , remoted squares and have impressive views on monuments and sights, which can hardly be reached by bus or other means of transport because of the physical situation.
On 20 spots in the Old Town, you will find a new pedestrian guidance system, that will help you orientate in the town. On the big information boards with their detailed map of the town, not only sights and vantage points are indicated; it is also possible to see the area of the town under World Heritage protection as well as how the town has developed. For families and guests with limited mobility, selected children's playgrounds and stairs were also mentioned on the map. Key sites along important routes in the city are identified by separate signs; an adapted map in printed form will soon complete the system.
